Nice work. I used to be a metalsmith, and I always did want to try knifemaking just never got around to it. fascinating though. Love the idea of making them from railroad spikes. You'll never run out. There are huge rusting piles at the old abandoned railroad station here where I live. So I'm sure there are everywhere. I PINNED it with your ETSY url.
I'm usually a visual arts guys but seeing this be included in this days' daily deviation so I just had to take a look. Very much looked like an woodland elf blade (#GEEKON) at first glance. The engraved (??) details on the blade and the choice of materials for the handle is just awesome! //I wish we could still zoom in some more to see what those really say. Meh. It's just me. //You could apply for a props man in the coming GoT seasons, just a suggestion. All of what I said can be summed-up into two words, BAD - A*SNESS!
Thanks for giving it a look. You can probably get more detail and a few more photo's on the etsy page. As for the markings on the blade, they are acid etching marks from when I quenched it and polished it so naturally occuring .
I think it was the rest of the room being reflected on the tip of the blade. There are several angles converging on the tip and the blade has a pretty high polish on it so it gets crazy reflections. Thanks for giving it a look .
